Storage Dagenham Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Storage Dagenham in recognition of our responsibilities under applicable modern slavery and human trafficking legislation. It outlines the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We are committed to conducting business ethically, transparently and with integrity in all our relationships.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Dagenham maintains a strict zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, child labour, servitude and human trafficking. This commitment applies to every aspect of our business, from the way we recruit and manage our people to the way we source goods, services and equipment. We expect the same high standards from all parties with whom we do business, including suppliers, contractors and business partners.
No form of exploitation is acceptable. Where any credible concern is identified, we will act promptly to investigate and, where appropriate, suspend or terminate relationships and report matters to relevant authorities in line with applicable law.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Storage Dagenham provides storage and related services to a wide range of customers. Our supply chain includes providers of facilities management, construction and maintenance services, security, cleaning, utilities, equipment, packaging materials and various professional and support services. We recognise that certain sectors and jurisdictions may present a higher risk of modern slavery and we are committed to identifying and addressing these risks proactively.
Supplier Standards and Due Diligence
To support our zero-tolerance stance, we are progressively strengthening our due diligence processes on suppliers and contractors. New and existing suppliers are assessed against our ethical expectations, which include compliance with labour, health and safety, and human rights standards. We seek to engage only with organisations that share our commitment to eliminating modern slavery and that can demonstrate appropriate controls in their own operations and supply chains.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
Storage Dagenham is developing and implementing a programme of supplier monitoring and audits focused on modern slavery risks. This may include desk-based assessments, requests for supporting documentation and, where appropriate, on-site visits. We prioritise higher-risk suppliers based on geography, sector and the nature of goods or services provided.
Where gaps or weaknesses are identified during audits or reviews, we will work with suppliers to develop corrective action plans and realistic timescales for improvement. If a supplier is unwilling or unable to make necessary changes, we reserve the right to review, restrict or terminate the relationship in accordance with contractual and legal obligations.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage employees, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders to report any concerns related to modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be raised through internal reporting routes or directly to management. Reports may be made in confidence, and individuals who raise concerns in good faith will not suffer any form of retaliation or disadvantage for doing so.
All reports are treated seriously and investigated appropriately. Where necessary, we will take remedial action, engage with affected individuals and cooperate with relevant authorities. We are committed to learning from any incident and strengthening our controls to prevent recurrence.
Training and Awareness
Storage Dagenham is committed to building awareness of modern slavery risks across the organisation. We aim to provide targeted guidance and training for employees involved in procurement, facilities management and supplier oversight so they can recognise the indicators of exploitation and know how to respond. We also reinforce our expectations through internal communications and policy updates.
Governance and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with senior management, who ensure that appropriate policies, controls and monitoring arrangements are in place. This statement and the supporting procedures will be reviewed at least annually, or more frequently if required by changes in law, our risk profile or industry best practice.
During each annual review, we will evaluate the effectiveness of our actions, consider feedback from stakeholders, assess emerging risks in our operations and supply chains, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Updated statements will reflect progress made, areas for development and any significant changes to our approach.
This Modern Slavery Statement has been approved by the management of Storage Dagenham and represents our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in every part of our business and supply chain.
